The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Stimson Center titled Discussing American Diplomacy at Risk and the Second Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review. A Panel of Experts presented answers for the often asked question how to utilize the experience and the wisdom of those who have managed to attain seniority in the field of civil service?. Experts also further expounded on embracing new challenges such as how to process  live on the spot updates through social media platforms in the time of crisis, and the negative effects of micro managing.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies titled Kazakhstan’s Accession to the WTO. A panel of experts explained Kazakhstan’s  latest endeavor the conclusion of its negotiations for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Experts also discussed the importance of trade between nations and how it affects the global market place today.

 

The Shirazi foundation attended an event hosted  by the Stimson Center titled, Cost of Wars : Overseas Contingency operations and Future Defense Spending/. A panel of experts addressed matters concerning  budget cuts and how they affect defense spending. Experts also presented research to clarify  who decides what programs are considered an Overseas Contingency Operations expense and how that funding is allocated. The Shirazi Foundation expert on foreign policy  joined the discussion with fellow experts on Overseas Contingency Operations and future defense spending priorities.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an AEI event titled, Islamic extremism, reformism, and the war on terror. Acknowledging the fact that radical extremist do not represent true Islam, the panel discussed the different steps that could be taken to counter the growth of global extremism. It was suggested that policy makers focus on the details of Islamic jurisprudence, as well as on scholars from the Wahabi School whose religious rulings often misinterpret the Islamic faith. The cyclical nature of misguidance within these institutions is a question that current academics are facing. How can experts in the field convince young recruits of the misguided nature of extremism and turn them away from joining international terrorist organizations.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended  an event hosted by Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, & World Affairs titled Religious Freedom: Rising Threats to a Fundamental Human Right. An  expert panel of professionals from diverse fields gathered to put forth a collective effort in  exploring violations religious freedoms and human rights. Some of the points of discussions were how to counter groups who commit terror throughout the world that bare religious titles in their name but don’t necessarily represent the true nature of the messenger who brought the message, for example the ISIS bearing the name of Islam in its title.  A variety of resolutions were suggested such as becoming active with faith based organizations that teach loving your neighbor in their mission and vision. Experts also  suggested that the greatest threat the world currently face is the is the radical misinterpretation of the Islamic faith by schools of thought who have hijacked the religion for personal gain.
 

the Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Heritage Foundation titled A View from the Front-lines of Islamist Insurgency: Perspectives on Terrorism in the Middle East and South Asia. An expert panel gathered to address the recent terrorist attacks by ISIS  where a Suicide bomber blew up a Shia Mosque in the Middle East  , the 38 tourist that were killed on a beach and  the beheading of a owner of a factory. It was suggested that it is indicative of the pervasiveness of the threat the world faces today due to the rapid growth of transnational insurgency.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Atlantic Council titled, Changing America’s Approach to Middle East Security. An expert panel suggested that there will be no stability in the middle east without economic development or until  the Arab world charts a path forward and addresses its rampant decay and management and added  that radical extremism will worsen with time if there is no change in the near future.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by The Brookings Institute titled Internal displacement: Lessons learned after 20 years and challenges ahead.

The expert panel suggested that even when full-scale hostilities in countries have ended the resolution of many armed conflicts throughout the world continue to be elusive. The continuation of this conflicts and their consequences, as well as the risk of renewed conflicts, has given rise to an emerging interest in protracting displacement. Experts also express that studies show the number of the displaced due to the  ISIS groups violence and fighting has exceeded 3.09 million in Iraq alone. The panel offered strong recommendations to  human rights organizations, humanitarian and development organizations to help IDP’s (internationally displaced persons)  resume normal lives in safety and dignity.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by CSIS titled Fighting Terrorism in the Age of ISIS’.  A panel discussion was held  by experts that addressed topics regarding  ISIS, or Da’esh, and how they now control territory in the Middle East that’s nearly the size of a small country, some studies also further suggest that ISIS is now pushing into North Africa. The experts also analytically examined   the awkward style in which ISIS  advertises on social media which enables them the ability to recruit globally. Many resolutions were proposed including a counter narrative that focuses on peace building in order to foster change.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by OpenGov Hub titled Make People Fall in Love With Your Brand: Building Brand Advocates to Create Impact for Your Cause. This event was centered around branding and marketing organizations in various fields. The presenters explored how to promote your brand or organizations through brainstorming while utilizing the company’s networks and resources. The speaker instructed attendees to create an irresistible experience  while meeting with other organizations and to convey a  strong message to other organizations that your presence is a necessity and they are better of with you in business.
