Shirazi Foundation’s expert on strategic investing attends event hosted by  Heritage Foundation Hosted titled “What Are Venture Exchanges and How Should They Be Regulated.” A panel of experts expounded on new innovative upstart investments and  whether the investment can be easily sold at a reasonable price when the investor decides to sell that investment. The panelist also suggested that venture exchanges are put in place for companies to raise capital and help their investors achieve their returns.

 

The Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center hosted the second Michael Van Dusen Lecture on the Middle East with Rami Khouri, “ISIS is About the Arab Past, Not the Future. Roots of extremism were analyzed and the lack of emphasis put on where it rises from historically, this  was tied to the myriad of issues in the region, and how it could in the future lead to the formation of a group much worse than ISIS. These underlying issues and Ideologies must be corrected  in order to prevent another dangerous movement from forming.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Smart Women, Smart Power: A Conversation with Carly Fiorina. The keynote speaker at the event highlighted a wide variety of topics that ranged from financially distressed individuals survival in today’s society, foreign policy, economic-reform and much more.The Shirazi Foundation  Foreign Policy Adviser attended this event to learn the overall  perspective and  views of others in this field.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by Brookings Institution, An overlooked crisis: Humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Libya. The main underlying theme of this event placed its focuses on the current conditions of the many  displaced refugees in Libya and its neighboring countries . The panel directed its attention to a diversified range of issues including millions of refugees displaced due to the current disruption.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Atlantic council, Trade and National Security: Renewing US Leadership Through Economic Strength. The keynote speaker at the event spoke in detail about the changes that have taken place  inside  the economic structure, from facing a dark recession to creating jobs in the workforce today. Important points of discussion were also directed to foreign trade and its impacts on the job market of the future.

 

In an informative event hosted by Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence at Brookings our advisor attended this event, a discussion on the acquisitions procedures at the Department of Defense and the need for reforms. The event opened with a keynote address by Frank Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics at DoD.

 

In an analytical look to countering extremism, Shirazi Foundation’s advisor on Counterterrorism attended an event hosted by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, titled: “New Counterrorism Strategies in Pakistan.”  The Carnegie South Asia Program informs policy debates relating to the region’s security, economy, and political development. From the war in Afghanistan to Pakistan’s internal dynamics to U.S. engagement with India, the Program’s renowned team of experts offer in-depth analysis derived from their unique access to the people and places defining South Asia’s most critical challenges

 

Hosted by United States Institute of Peace, our expert on Counter Extremism attended this valuable conference titled: “A Different Route to Countering Violent Extremism: What Works?.”  In order to further examine this important topic, USIP hosts State Department Counselor on Counterterrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism, Eric Rosand, where he joins the Conflict Prevention and Resolution Forum at the U.S. Institute of Peace for a discussion of the results of these efforts, and how to build on effective approaches.

The Conflict Prevention and Resolution Forum (CPRF) provides a monthly platform in Washington for highlighting innovative and constructive methods of conflict resolution. Established in 1999, the forum’s goals are to (1) provide information from a wide variety of perspectives; (2) explore possible solutions to complex conflicts; and (3) provide a secure venue for stakeholders from various disciplines to engage in cross-sector and multi-track problem-solving.

 

Shirazi Foundation believes strengthening the education system of any country is directly linked to its advancement. Strong Education System mean Stronger society as a whole. Our Education Advisor attends the informative panel discussion on constructive and necessary changes the educational systems need in general and more specifically in the United States. Event titled: “Cage-busting teachers: Who are they, and what can they teach us?”  brought together experts on the education field to analyze constructive suggestions 

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Cato Institute on National Security Implications of New Oil and Gas Production Technologies. This conference  between experts took place on the topic of  Energy consumption and how natural resources are traded throughout the globe. This dialogue was conducted through a moderate exchange of different perspectives between scholars in this field. The experts discussed an array  of Ideas concerning  energy production and its impacts and alternative forms of energy consumption for humanity.
