The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by New America titled  Digital Globalization: The New Era of Global Flows and What it means for the United States.  Experts in the field of economics provided insight into the new era of digital globalization. Experts also gave examples of the small upstart companies that thrived and flourished due to the current shift. Throughout the panel discussion, new  questions arose as to how do we think of Human Rights in association with Digital Rights ?, and are your individual Human Rights protected?. Experts also explained how the new Global Digital Economy allows  people to  move more fluidly across the world’s borders in terms of communication and commerce.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by GeorgeTown Institute for Women, Peace & Security, Berkley center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, Global Future Initiative, titled Human Security in the Face of Violent Extremism. At this presentation and award ceremony  experts covered topics concerning the importance to eradicate rape and sexual violence in wars and throughout the world. Experts also addressed the point that because of the five year conflict in specific countries in the middle east the effects on women whom have no access to education will be detrimental to the future. It was also mentioned that organizations such as ISIS use women’s bodies and turn them  into battle fields and weapons while creating wars. Experts discussed many solution to end sexual violence, that has resulted in mass migration and wartime sexual slavery.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Wilson Center titled “Five Years In: The Legacy of the Arab Spring”. An expert panel offered its assessments on whether ISIS is different from other terrorist organization because it wants to establish itself as a government and as its own independent structure and a rule base order. Experts suggest that across the board that it is seen that it has been a breakdown in the legitimacy of the state while they search for new ways to gain legitimacy but has failed.  Experts posed the question does sectarianism define the divide?.  Panelist suggested that it will take 50 years to rebuild the country, and that the effects of the conflict will lead to the next generation of youth in the areas affected by violence being illiterate as a result of no access to schools and education.

 

The  Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Wilson Center titled Women and Extremism: A Tale of Two Experiences.  At this informative event an expert panel analyzed the roots of extremism amongst women who are lured by terrorist movements from different parts of the world. Experts on the panel presented answers to questions such as, what is the exact role women play in terrorism and how can it be  distinguishing whether they are willing participants or kidnapped victims forced to commit acts of terror?. An expert also tackled issues such as, why terror groups seek to persuade women of the west to join them.The attraction of violence power and  false promises from extremist groups, coupled with a distorted, misguided form of Islam commonly known as Wahhabi or Salafi was the answer when panelist posed the question,  what is the allure for women to join groups like  ISIS and what benefits does any women get from joining them.

 

The Shirazi Foundation attended an interactive event hosted by the Heritage Foundation titled  Beyond Obamacare: Respecting Conscience through Patient-Centered Health Care.  Experts representing the religious branch of the Health Care Ministry shared its views on the  sharing of Medical bills being an expression of biblical admonition  to bear one another’s burdens”, directly member- to- member.

An expert panel tackled the broad consensus today that modern societies have an obligation to ensure that all of their members have access to needed health care. Experts also discussed the many aspects of  Health care and its complexities of providing Health insurance. Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr. is another reminder for all men and women, regardless of ethnicity, color of skin, belief and ideology, that freedom is achievable if people seek peaceful coexistence through an all inclusive approach.

Shirazi Foundation sees the  increasing number of activists in humanitarian fields as a signs of both an increase in injustice throughout the world, but also an  increase of people who stand for the rights of each other and seek every peaceful measure to achieve freedom and prosperity for all, as God has created us all equal.

As Martin Luther King Jr. worked with a number of civil rights and religious groups to organize the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, a peaceful political rally designed to shed light on the injustices African Americans continued to face across the country. Held on August 28, 1963; attended by some 200,000 to 300,000 participants.

Shirazi Foundation seeks 30th Anniversary of such important occasion in American and world history to remind all of ,men and women, Human Rights Activists to remember; to-date millions of people are displaced from their homes and away from their motherland, many have lost loved ones they regret not holding within their arms one last time, and many more have lost sons and daughters , our future hopes, in the ongoing effort to achieve freedom ,peace and all inclusive diversity for all.

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by Brookings Institution titled Beyond bitcoin: The future of blockchains and disruptive financial technologies.  A lead expert panel discussed using new technologies that will decrease fraud and other threats to the financial system,  these threats exist in the form of Cyber Security and many more challenges. Experts went in depth about the new technology that changed the speed of trading on the stock market. Panelist representing State Regulators for the 50 States  discussed the role of its organization, to protect the marketplace and the user. Experts made recommendations that many states should look into the outdated money transmitting laws for the near future.
