Religious Freedom: Rising Threats to a Fundamental Human Right
The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, & World Affairs titled Religious Freedom: Rising Threats to a Fundamental Human Right. An expert panel of professionals from diverse fields gathered to put forth a collective effort in exploring violations religious freedoms and human rights. Some of the points of discussions were how to counter groups who commit terror throughout the world that bare religious titles in their name but don’t necessarily represent the true nature of the messenger who brought the message, for example the ISIS bearing the name of Islam in its title. A variety of resolutions were suggested such as becoming active with faith based organizations that teach loving your neighbor in their mission and vision. Experts also suggested that the greatest threat the world currently face is the is the radical misinterpretation of the Islamic faith by schools of thought who have hijacked the religion for personal gain.
