Protecting the Homeland

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by the Atlantic Counci titled,  Protecting the Homeland. The keynote speaker addressed attendees on a vast amount of topics including defense support for civil authority, the advocate’s role in the Atlantic and the responsibility to communicate and navigate in that environment. The speaker  also expounded on traditional and nontraditional threats and believes that the nontraditional threat is now possibly  ISIS spreading its ideas and violence to  the homeland. Experts also mentioned that the new threats from ISIS are different in terms of the style that they use to recruit and the way they use social media to get their message across to others. The speaker made recommendations that the U.S. should have stricter cyber laws in place to combat these current threats.
