Countering Terrorism In The Asia Pacific

The Shirazi Foundation attended an event hosted by The Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) and the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), titled Countering Terrorism In The Asia Pacific Asia Society Policy Institute.

An assembly panel of experts in various fields addressed  the current issue of ISIS impact in Asia Pacific and the anticipated return of foreign fighters. Experts stated that in recent violent outbreaks in Southeast Asia there has been less attention from media outlets and a quiet reaction.While analyzing  the current outbreaks experts stated that  there may be groups who who are copying the identity of ISIS in the region and many who act as lone wolfs. Recommendations were put forward that the public should understand and be informed  that violent extremism is an enemy to all religions.  Experts also suggested that the conflicts that involves some groups who claim the title of Muslim does not mean that the conflict is carried out by true believers of the faith.
